Why Was Lincoln at the Theater the Night He Was Shot?

On Monday evening, May 17, at 7 pm, Sandra Smith will speak at the Scotch Plains Public Library on "Why Was Lincoln at the Theater the Night He Was Shot?"  Dr. Smith answers this question by revealing the importance of the theater, not just to Lincoln and his circle, but also to the development of our country during the 19th century. Dr. Smith is a teacher and scholar of history and is a member of the faculty at The Spence School in Manhattan.  Her academic pursuits include exploring the significance of theater in the history of the United States.
