The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA “C” Gymnastic Teams competed in their first meet of the season on Saturday, January 26th. Teams representing the South Mountain and Madison YMCAs were in attendance. Eight of the 14 FSPY gymnasts were competing in their very first gymnastics competition!
Competing in the 10 & under age group, Ava McKenzie captured 1st place All Around. McKenzie’s honors also included 1st place on Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise, 2nd place on Vault and 3rd on Balance Beam. Anina Dashiell was awarded 1st place on Balance Beam and 3rd on both Vault and Floor Exercise. Zoe Wernsing received 2nd place on Balance Beam. Second place on Floor Exercise was awarded to Lenore Ferguson. Che Dashiell also competed in the 10 & under age group.
Ann Decker received 1st place All Around in the 11 year old age group. Decker also earned 1stplace on Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor exercise and 3rd place on Vault, Tatiana Perea took home the 2nd place honors on Balance Beam. Third place on Balance Beam was awarded to Nicalina DelRosario. Elizabeth Kent also competed in the 11 year old age group.
Open Registration is going on now at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA for all Early Spring Session programs and classes. Session begins on February 4th. Gymnastics classes offered at the Y include parent-toddler and preschool classes. Gymnastics classes for school-age girls are offered Monday through Saturday at the Martine Avenue facility. Cheerleading classes are also available this session as well as birthday parties too!
