Gallery: 'Generation Millennium' Preview Show

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Marching Band presents its 2010-2011 program Thursday night.

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School marching band presented a preview of its 2010-2011 program Thursday night. Before an audience of parents and family members, the band performed selections from the four-part program, "Generation Millennium," which includes songs made famous by Disney.

"I'm going into my 16th year, and by far, this is one the most memorable ones," director Durand Thomas said of the program. "They've been sweating it out in the rain, in the heat, and they got all the elements this year."

The ensemble's two-week band camp, which concluded Thursday, took place during one of the hottest and wettest Augusts on record. "It's the band camp with the with the most days over 100 degrees, almost 100 degrees, that I can remember," Thomas said. And when it wasn't sweltering, it was raining.
