Graduates Zachary Flanzman, Samantha Henderson and Adam Offitzer deliver speeches amid balmy weather and sunny skies.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School held its graduation Wednesday night. Principal David Heisey and Board of Education president Trip Whitehouse presented diplomas to 352 graduates. Superintendent Margaret Hayes offered handshakes and hugs as they walked across the stage.

Valedictorian Zachary Flanzman, salutatorian Samantha Henderson and class president Adam Offitzer each delivered speeches. Heisey, Whitehouse and superintendant Margaret Hayes also spoke.

"The feeling, I can't describe it," graduate Kiara Murkey said after the ceremony. "I was thinking, 'I can't wait to take off my hat and throw it up in the air.'"

Christopher Vicari agreed. "Thank god!" he said. "I was just going, 'Come on, come on, come on!'"

The ceremony lasted about an hour-and-a-half.

"It's exciting," graduate Johan Hernandez said. "It's a big weight off my shoulders. Now I'm stepping into the real world."
