Seat Opens on Board of Education

The position would be from now through April.

Board of Education member Sasha Slocum announced her resignation from the board at the end of the group's Thursday night meeting.

Slocum cited a new job as her reason for leaving, saying that she would now prefer to reserve her free time for her family.

Board of Education President Trip Whitehouse said the board has 60 days to post the position. After it has been advertised, interested candidates will be able to submit letters of interest to the board for consideration. From there, the board will meet with candidates for an interview, and then select someone to take over.

The board is looking for a candidate to fill Slocum's seat until April, when the position will be up for election. The seat is open to Fanwood residents only.

Slocum called her time on the board one of the "most personally and professionally rewarding experiences" she's ever had.
