Snow: No Early Dismissal as of Wednesday Morning, But Slew of Program Cancellations

Afternoon kindergarten and pre-k classes at Scotch Plains-Fanwood are cancelled.

With heavy snowfall across much of the Northeast, the , , and the have not declared an early dismissal for Wednesday, according to the receptionists at the schools' main offices. However, as of 10 a.m., Scotch Plains-Fanwood and Union Catholic cancelled all afternoon and evening activities, including the afternoon session of "Guest Reader Day" at .

In addition, Courage to Connect announced via email that it rescheduled Wednesday night's forum on consolidating Scotch Plains and Fanwood to Wednesday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Brunner's multi-purpose room.

New Jersey Transit announced on its website Wednesday that it will cross-honor all tickets systemwide through Thursday. Travelers can use their tickets or passes on any alternate mode of transportation, meaning that a bus pass, for example, can be used on a train.

NJ Transit also announced that trains would continue to operate on a regular weekday schedule, but may be subject to delays. The center doors on single-level rail cars will not be used because "the doors are particularly susceptible to snow and ice issues," according to NJ Transit's website. All NJ Transit rail station buildings and waiting rooms will remain open extended hours, including evenings and overnights, throughout the storm.

Bus service will also be subject to delays, detours and service adjustments.
