Get ready to go back to a time when hair was big and collars were up, at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Repertory Theatre’s production of The Wedding Singer on Thursday, March 14. The community is invited to raid their closets, come dressed in their best 80’s outfit and party like it’s 1985, before the curtain rises at 7:00 pm.
While ‘80s music plays in the Manya Ungar Auditorium, a panel of judges will roam the audience looking for the three theatergoers who best embody the look of the decade when greed was good.
First, second and third place prizes will be distributed just before the start of the show.
For those too young to remember the ’80s, among the top fashion trends were: shoulder pads, mini-skirts, legwarmers (thanks, Jane Fonda), huge earrings, fingerless gloves (Hello, Madonna!), off-the-shoulder, Flashdance-inspired oversized tops, and, for the guys, M.C. Hammer parachute pants and Members Only jackets.
Performances will be held on Friday, March 8th at 8:00pm, Saturday, March 9th at 8:00pm, Sunday, March 10th at 2:00pm, Thursday, March 14th at 7:00pm, Friday, March 15th at 8:00pm and Saturday, March 16th at 8:00pm.
