Star Ledger: SPFHS Boys Swimming Wins State Title
In the team's first championship appearance since 2001, Scotch Plains-Fanwood defeated Princeton 90-80.
The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School boys swimming team made history by clinching their first State Championship in the program's history. The No. 5 seeded Raiders triumphed over No. 6 Princeton 90-80 at The College of New Jersey Sunday morning. Scotch Plains-Fanwood was winless in six previous championship appearances.
"Surreal is the only way I can describe it,’’ junior Greg Baliko said of the win. "Really? Finally? That’s what I thought when I hit the wall. We just got the monkey off our backs and it feels amazing. Awesome.’’
