On Monday, Patch highlights the happenings around Scotch Plains and Fanwood this week.

On Monday, February 13, at 6:30 p.m. thewill host the Career Networking Group. Participants will have the opportunity to meet Steven Esposito, Susan Best and Martin Gonsky will share tips and lessons learned, on long-term transition survival, conversations that count and self-marketing.  Their stories encompass self-employment, nonprofit and corporate opportunities.

Online registration for FYO Little League begins today for residents of Scotch Plains and Fanwood. FYO Little League Baseball is dedicated to providing quality baseball programs and instruction to children of pre-school age to 9th grade.  Register online at www.fyobaseball.org and click on the ‘registration’ tab.  Please note that in-person registration is not available.  If you have general questions, please call (908) 325-5050.

Scotch Plains public schools will be closed on Friday, February 17, for a staff professional day. The Board of Education will be holding an Open Agenda meeting on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The Friends of the Scotch Plains Library continues to accept donations for the annual book sale and will be collection donations through March 4. Only clean, salable books with no torn or marked pages will be accepted.  Both hardcovers and paperbacks will be accepted, as well as books on CD, music CDs and DVDs. The Friends of the SP Library request that donations not include older or time-sensitive materials such as videotapes, records, magazines or textbooks.
