'U.S. News' Ranks UC Vo-Tech Schools, UC Magnet School Among Top in NJ

The rankings consider students' performance on state exit exams, student-teacher ratio, proficiency in college-level and Advanced Placement courses and participation in Advanced Placement classes.

According to U.S. News and World Report's "Best High Schools" ranking for 2013, these Scotch Plains schools are tops.

- The Academy for Allied Health Sciences ranked #7 in the state, #159 nationwide and earned the "gold" designation.

- The Academy For Information Technology ranked #12 in the state, #191 nationwide and earned the "gold" designation.

- The Union County Magnet High School ranked #26 in the state, #375 nationwide and earned the "gold" designation.

- The Union County Vo-Tech High School was unranked, but earned the "bronze" designation.

The rankings take several factors into consideration, including students' performance on state exit exams, student-teacher ratio, proficiency in college-level and advanced placement courses and participation in advanced placement classes. The survey ranked 295 school districts in the state.
