The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA has been selected to offer LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a free physical activity and well-being initiative that helps cancer survivors reach their holistic health goals.
In an effort to support the new LIVESTRONG initiative, the Y, is hosting a fun, healthy Mini-Tri “LIVESTRONG Day” at the Y facility located at 1340 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains. This event will take place on Sunday, October 2, 2011 beginning at 7:00am.
Participants can swim 25-300 yards, bike 2.5-4 miles and walk/run 1-1.5 miles beginning at 9:00 am. The distance to be determined by the individual participant. Individuals, relay teams and families can register to participate in the special fun, filled day of activity. Registration is going on now until October 1, 2011. However, participants registering by September 23, 2011 will receive a tee shirt.

There will also be Pancake Breakfast to benefit the LIVESTRONG at the Y Program from 8:00am – 10:00am and is FREE to registered participants. Others are welcome to attend the benefit for a small fee of $5.
The Y is also hosting a Bake Sale and LIVESTRONG merchandise will be available for resale.
