Signups Start Now for Tween Tri Camp - Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is pleased to announce they will offer a Tween Tri Camp this summer for children ages 11-13 years old.  The focus will be on developing skills and conditioning in the three sports that make up a triathlon which are swimming, biking and running.

In addition to working on sports specific conditioning, campers will stretch and strengthen with Yoga, Pilates, and Bosu training and have time for recreational fun.  Nutrition is also a very important component of any training protocol.  Each day, campers will be involved with making a healthy snack and discuss nutrition topics such as calorie and protein needs, the food pyramid, hydration needs in sports, pre-event meals and snack for best performance with a Registered Dietitian.

In order to be prepared for an actual triathlon, our Tri-Coach will discuss what to pack on race day, transition area set up, and open water swimming.  The camp runs for four weeks.  At the end of the four weeks, the campers have a chance to put all they learned into practice with a mini-tri.
