TONIGHT: C.H.I.L.D.'s Programs for Education - Plan For The Future

TONIGHT- Programs for Education Brought to you by The C.H.I.L.D. Organization   Plan for the Future: Have Peace of Mind by Protecting Your Child's Assets

Who knew that when Caitlin started her dismount on the parallel bars that she would instead slip, land on her head and lapse into a coma.   Who knew that the Jones' baby would show significant signs of developmental delays.  Finally, Mr. Smith never dreamed in a million years that while cleaning out his gutters, he should fall from the ladder becoming paralyzed.

Planning for the disabled is not something you may consider.  However, anyone, at any time can become disabled.  It's a frightening concept.

Likewise, parents of a disabled child are concerned, as they should be, as to the uncertainty of the future.  The alarming realization is that they may not always be around to protect or care for their child.  Upon the death of a parent, the burden of care then falls to surviving family members.  The emotional strain and worry placed on them becomes daunting.

For those with family members or children that are disabled, you may already be wondering what to do, where to go or how to proceed so that your disabled family member or disabled child's financial future will be protected.

Special Needs Trusts are among the most effective legal planning tools available to provide you with a means to address these issues and offer assurance that your child will be taken care of when you are deceased.  However, understanding the new laws to navigating federal and state systems for financial planning and remain qualified for disability benefits can be confusing.

How do you begin to plan?  Which type of Trust is most appropriate for your child's needs?  What if a mistake is made – Can your child lose necessary benefits and services?

The CHILD Organization will help to clarify this maze as explanations, solutions and options will be shared at their next program, CHILD Presents Programs for Education.

On Wed. December 1st , Daniel Kaplan and Michael Sprung with AXA Advisors will present, Plan for the Future: Have Peace of Mind by Protecting Your Child's Assets.   The program will be held at the Municipal Building at 430 Park Ave., Scotch Plains from 7:15pm – 9:30pm.   There is no charge to attend this meeting and all are welcome to attend.  Professionals registered with CHILD can also earn Professional Development Hours for Continuing Education.   To attend please RSVP by calling 908.322.4020.

As we are entering the holiday season, if attendees could bring one unwrapped present for a child or a teenager in need, CHILD will deliver these gifts to local charity groups in Scotch Plains for distribution.  For more information please go to www.childorgspf.org.
