Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Extends Youth Basketball Deadline

Children can be registered until the end of December to participate in a Kindergarten or Youth Basketball league in order to keep them active during the winter.

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA will be offering a variety of basketball programs this season and extending the deadline to register until the end of December.

The YMCA hopes the programs will provide an outlet for children to continue to stay active during the winter months.

Two leagues will be offered, one for kindergarten players and the youth basketball league for grades one to two.

At the Kindergarten level, children will play at the Grand Street facility beginning the first week of January. Practices will be held on Saturday mornings and children will participate in skill drills and scrimmages against other kindergarten teams.

As for Youth Basketball, all children get to play in this league. It is a co-ed instructional league where "everybody wins." Practices are held either Monday or Tuesday nightgs beginning the week of January 7th.

Registration is going on now until the end of December at the Member Service Desk for all programs and services offered at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA.  The Y is the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
