Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men's Basketball Season Reaches Halfway Point
The following is a breakdown of the Men's Basketball mid-season mark.

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men’s Basketball League hit the mid-season mark Sunday and the standings resemble the classic bell curve – one team on top, one on the bottom and the majority clustered in the middle.

Game one ended with Double Dribble,50 and Got Skillz, 33. Double Dribble got 15 points apiece from Marlon Brown (10 assists) and Eric Halpin (8 rebounds) and 12 more from Chris Mattina. Got Skillz, trying to overcome injuries and mixing new players, made a game of it in the second quarter but DD was perfect from the free throw line in the second half to preserve the win.

Game two finished with Above the Rim, 66 and Fast Break, 63. In the upset special, Above the Rim jumped out to a 19-12 1st quarter lead then Fast Break took a 3-point margin into the locker room at halftime, 28-25, and even led after 3. Above the Rim’s Jamal Berry dropped 9 of his 29 points in the fourth to spark the comeback win – handing Fast Break its first loss of the season. Joe “lunch box” Negley added 10 and Captain Dennis Glynn posted 9. Fast Break was led by Jerry Baglien with 29 points. Stat-man Jason Holley had 12 to go with 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Rookie Tim Gray added 19 points.
Game three closed with Hooptown, 84 and Courtmasters, 54. Courtmasters hung with Hooptown for a half but 22-7 and 23-15 third and fourth quarters contributed to the 30-point differential. Brian Parker coasted to 43 points and HT captain Scott Lowder had 14. CM got a lift from rookies Greg Carter (24) and Joe Encarnacion but came up short.
