Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men's Basketball League Tackles Another Week

A look at this week's men's basketball league rundown.

The following information was provided by the FANWOOD-SCOTCH PLAINS YMCA.

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men’s Basketball League was back in action this past Sunday with teams looking to make their move in the 2013 standings.

Game one ended with Fast Break 56 and Got Skillz 31.  Playing without their two leading scorers, Got Skillz faced a formidable opponent, Fast Break. Stocked with key weapons, Steve Lee led all scorers with 19 points and a healthy 17 buckets from Tim Gray, Fast Break ran away with it.  Got Skillz' Kevin Gannon's valiant 12 point and 16 rebound performance goes for naught as Fast Break improves to a league best 4-0.

Game two closed with Double Dribble 60 and HoopTown 61.  This was the highlight game of the day.  A hard-fought intense battle, to the last second saw Marlon Brown lead all scoring with 25 points.  Brian Park, however, paced his team with 21 points and 19 rebounds.  He got help from his captain Scott Lowder (18 points) and Hooptown moves to 2-2 with the win over Double Dribble.

The day ended with game three ended with Above the Rim 71 and Court Masters 60.  Captain Dennis Glynn's poured in21 points as Above the Rim also moved to 2-2 defeating the Court Masters.  Hampered by nagging injuries, Jack Ryan mustered 23 points for the Masters, but it was not enough as his team was out rebounded 40 to 21.  Jamal Berry sealed the afternoon with a highlight-reel slam dunk that brought the crowd to its feet to end the day's events.
