Local Soccer Champs Need Your Help to Compete at Nationals

Eight Scotch Plains boys are looking to the community for help covering the cost to play at the National Championship in California. Here's how you can help.

Eight local boys are now on their way to a National Soccer Championship, after winning the U-14  U.S. Youth Soccer Association Eastern Regional of the Presidents Cup. The championship took place during Memorial Day weekend in Manchester, New Hampshire.

As part of the Metuchen Rovers Travel Soccer Club, the team is no stranger to triumph. The driven team mates went 5 – 0 in the regionals, defeating a team from Massachusetts in the finals, 6 -5. The team went on to qualify for the regionals by winning the N.J.Y.S.A. State Cup this past fall.

The local Scotch Plains boys on the team include eighth graders, Noah Bernstein, Julian Korduba, Jake Longo, Brian McManus, Tyler O’Brien, Ari Rosenzweig, Matt Scariati, Stav Shadmi. The team was led to victory by their long-time coach Jeff Josell, and Assistant Coach Mike Holim.
