Special Olympics Athlete from Scotch Plains Competes in Triathlon

Event Benefits Special Olympics New Jersey

The following information was provided by Special Olympics New Jersey.

Special Olympics New Jersey athlete Courtney Dreyfus, 15, of Scotch Plains competed in One More Tri, a triathlon/duathlon/aquavelo held in Asbury Park on September 23.

Dreyfus finished the full triathlon, which consisted of a 0.25-mile ocean swim followed by a 12-mile bike and then a three-mile run, with a time of 1:46:42.3.

Funds raised at One More Tri will benefit Special Olympics New Jersey, which provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in 24 Olympic-type sports for more than 22,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

All programs are offered completely free of charge, giving athletes continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

One More Tri was sanctioned by USA Triathlon and hosted by Asbury Park-based Eneractive Solutions. For more information, visit www.sonj.org or call 609.896.8000.
