SPFHS Students to Compete in Annual Snapple Bowl

Union County players will take on Middlesex County on Thursday at Kean University.

Three football players and three cheerleaders from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High have been selected to participate in the 20th annual Snapple Bowl at Kean University on Thursday.

Offensive tackle Jamie Kaiser, safety Dein Rice, defensive tackle Anthony Tufaro and cheerleaders Hailey Rachko and Elizabeth Nardone were nominated by coaches throughout Union County to participate in the all-star game between Middlesex and Union counties.

Each year, the Snapple Bowl helps raise money for Children’s Specialized Hospital and the NJ Institute for Disabilities Lakeview School.
Middlesex has won six out of the last seven games but the two sides have split the victories over the last two years. Union won a 28-6 battle in 2011 and Middlesex came away with a 39-15 win in 2012.

The game is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Kean University. Tickets are $10 at the gate and all proceeds go to Children’s Specialized Hospital and the Lakeview School in Edison. The game has raised and donated more than $400,000 to date.
