Union Catholic, SPF Take First at Relay C'ships
The Raider girls and Viking boys win the top spots.
Scotch Plains track teams swept the Union County Relay Championships on Thursday and Friday at Gary Kehler Stadium in Westfield. The girls and boys teams each took first place. SPF edged Cranford 88-79, finishing first among 16 teams. Union Catholic ran away with the top-spot, 93-60 over second-place Westfield. The SPF boys team finished sixth of 17 teams with 42 points, and the Union Catholic girls placed ninth with 26 points.
The Raider girls took home first-place medals in the 400-meter hurdles, the discus, shot put and the javelin. They also placed second in five events and third in four events. The Raider men finished one-two in the javelin, took second-place in the pole vault and finished third in the 4x100-meter shuttle hurdles.
The Union Catholic boys took first place in the 3,200-meter relay, the triple jump and the discus, second place in the high jump and third place in the 1,600-meter relay. The girls won third place in the shot put.

The teams will compete next at the Union County Conference Watchung Division Championship, taking place at Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights on Friday and Saturday.
