Scores of local residents completed an annual triathlon Sept. 11.

The women, members of SPFW Tri-Women, which is based at the and the , joined 1,600 others from across the region in swimming a half-mile, cycling 10 miles and running five kilometers. Local residents Janice Baker, Amy Carow (who supplied the photos above) and Marie Russo placed in their respective age groups and received free registration to the next year's event.

The Danskin represents the culmination of nine months of training for the Tri-Women, who began practicing for the event in January, and range in age from teens to seniors. The night before the race, they held a pasta party at Cosimo's Restaurant in Westfield, and after the triathlon, gathered for a "Victory Barbecue" at Carow's house.
