As Temps Rise, Ponderosa Park is Cooler Than Ever

The 23-acre park includes a popular spray fountain to cool off on a hot day.

The weekend hot weather brought out plenty of kids to the spray-ground at Ponderosa Farm Park on Cooper Road in Scotch Plains.

The 23-acre park opened last year and includes walking trails, multipurpose fields for soccer and lacrosse, a variety of playground equipment and swings, and—the biggest draw these days—a spray fountain in the center of the play area.

The property was previously a farm, owned by the Sevell family of Sevell’s Auto Body and Towing on South Avenue in Westfield. It was purchased by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders through the use of a Green Acres grant and funds from the Union County Open Space reserve.
