Week in Review: The Top Stories in SPF

A month after she first  her unexpired term as Scotch Plains Mayor, Nancy Malool has The SP Republican Committee now has less than 15 days to choose three candidates to fill the vacancy. Patch spoke with Deputy Mayor Mary DePaola and Councilman Kevin Glover about the challenges the Council faces moving forward, Malool's departure, and the controversy surrounding her failure to secure the Republican nomination for mayor.

On Monday, Newsweek released its list of the . Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School came in at number 769 with three Union County Vo-tech schools, also located in SP topping the list as well. Union County Magnet High School came it at number 102, Academy for Science and Technology at 143, and Academy for Allied Health Sciences at 167.

On Thursday, the Board of Education emphatically and unanimously passed a motion approving the as part of the second chapter of a blossoming foreign exchange student program. The students will attend Sagrada Familia High School in Barcelona from February 13 through February 22, 2013. During that time, they will also reside with host families and seek to immerse themselves in Spanish-speaking culture.

This week, Patch spoke with Councilman Kevin Glover to get the inside scoop on the first ever, coming to Fanwood on Sunday, May 27. The free concert will feature the Westfield Community Band on personal remembrances and letters from the battlefield which will be read by local veterans.
