The GrilleStone is an up and coming restaurant, located on RT22 in Scotch Plains. The head chef can cook you a meal that will keep you coming back for more.

The GrilleStone is an up and coming restaurant, located at 2377 route 22 west in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. The ambiance of the restaurant is very warm and inviting.  Some nights they even have a live band. With the launch of their new head chef, menu and staff we just knew we had to check it out. Each dish is made from scratch. From homemade soups and dressings to fresh baked breads and desserts. The menu has so many option to choose from, you can please even the pickiest eater.

We visited the GrilleStone for dinner and couldn't wait to review the new staff and head chef.

The staff was super friendly and were well versed on the items on the menu. The menu had a nice assortment of appetizers and entrees.
We started off with a soup, our waiter suggested the seafood soup for my husband and I decided on the split pea.

The seafood soup was amazing. It consisted of tilapia, plump shrimp, fresh sea scallops. tasty clams and a touch of tomato with fish stock that would knock your socks off. The flavors and consistency were spot on. I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The split pea was delicious. You could tell it was made from scratch. I make my own split pea soup often and this soup was better than mine. The croutons on top were a nice touch.

I am not a huge salad fan but our waiter suggested to try an arugula salad which was a special for the night. It was arugula topped with mango, dried cranberry, avocado, heart of palm, Gorgonzola cheese, with warm toasted almonds. I figured we would split the salad and give it a try. I am so glad we did. It was the perfect salad. We both enjoyed it.

We also ordered the lettuce wrap which was surprisingly light and enjoyable. Mixed vegetables, shredded chicken, teriyaki sauce, married with sesame oil over a bed of crisp iceberg lettuce.

Entrees
I ordered the Sea Scallops and my husband ordered the GrilleStone Chicken. The sea scallops and shrimp were perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed this dish. Normally, I would play it safe and order salmon but I felt I could throw caution to the wind and try something new. I had been so impressed with the chef thus far, I knew I would not be disappointed. It was absolutely delicious. The creamy garlic sauce was the perfect texture and color. It was smooth and very appetizing.  The risotto was cooked just the way I like it. Which at times could be tricky to cook. It boasted the best flavors.

We had little room left for dessert but figured we would split it. We ordered the cheesecake and creme brulee. Both were delicious and fresh. My creme brulee was nice and warm with a crisp layer. They nailed it. The cheesecake was so creamy and dripped with the most delightful syrups.

Thanks for an enjoyable evening.
