Bob Brennan Named Fanwood Volunteer of the Month

Brennan is in his 34th year of service as a volunteer with the Fanwood Fire Department.

The volunteer of the month recognized at tonight's Fanwood Borough Council meeting was volunteer firefighter Bob Brennan, who is in his 34th with the Fanwood Fire Department.

Brennan joined in 1979. Bob and his wife Barbara live on Watson Road across the street from the firehouse. Before the current firehouse was built, the old firehouse was literally next to their home and the fire siren was just outside their bedroom, a fact that Councilman Tony Parenti found amusing during his remarks. Bob's son, Michael, a former Fanwood Councilman, is the owner of Darby Road, a new restaurant on Park Avenue in Scotch Plains. Bob thanked his fire department colleagues, many of whom attended the council meeting, saying they were the reason he enjoyed his 34 years as a volunteer.

Remarks were by Councilman Tony Parenti. Council President Russ Huegel presented Bob with a framed print of the historic Fanwood train station.
