Brief: FW Senior Club President Passes the Gavel

Jim Peeney joins his family near the Jersey Shore.

More than 80 members of the Fanwood Seniors Club bid farewell to outgoing club president Jim Peeney at a picnic Monday, June 13. Peeney is joining his family down the shore, but said he intends to stay in touch with the Fanwood organization.

During Peeney’s presidency, the Club expanded its roster to more than 100 members, who meet regularly from September to June. The club hosted lectures, concerts, and special events like a square dance, a birthday party for borough octogenarians, and out-of-state trips to Broadway and elsewhere.

Mayor Colleen Mahr attended the June picnic and offered a few words on Peeney. She then handed the gavel to club vice president Joe Bruno, who was unanimously voted take over Peeney’s position. Elections will be held in the fall to fill the position of vice president.
