Malool & Bratti Raise Bucks Behind Bars

SP Mayor Nancy Malool and Deputy Mayor Dominick Bratti raised more than $1,500 by participating in the American Red Cross Jail and Bail fundraiser this weekend

It's usually not a good thing when elected officials find themselves behind bars, but this weekend was the exception that proved the rule when jailbirds Nancy Malool and Dominick Bratti raised significant funds for the Tri-County Red Cross' Jail and Bail initiative.

The pair pleaded "guilty" to "preparing victims for floods" and "aiding in a disaster" and then called upon friends and family to raise bail money for the charity.

"It was very rewarding," said Mayor Malool. She noted that the Red Cross "provides essential services to victims of fires, floods, and other tragedies and they can do so much good with the money we raise for them."

Councilman Bratti praised the Red Cross as "always being there when needed, whether by providing food and shelter to hurricane victims or by making sure that medicine and blood get to those who need it."

Both Malool and Bratti were "represented" by their daughters when entering their pleas. "It was a great event, and a good lesson for our kids," Bratti said.
