Ricky Abichandani, a local Eagle Scout contributed the sign as part of his Eagle Scout project.

Mayor Colleen Mahr inaugurated the newly unveiled “Welcome to Fanwood Sign” on Sunday, June 3rd.

The sign, sited at the intersection of South and La Grande Avenue, is the culmination of an Eagle Scout Project completed by Ricky Abichandani of Troop 33.

Abichandani thanked Mayor Mahr, the Fanwood Business Association, the Fanwood Environmental Commission, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Rotary Club, his Troop leaders, fellow Scouts, and parents for their support and contributions.

“Scouts and volunteers have spent over 100 hours preparing, installing and landscaping the sign and the surrounding area," the scout said. "It’s definitely something we’re all proud to be part of.”

"I am always pleased with the Eagle Scout projects," Mayor Mahr responded. "As exemplified by this sign, they always accomplish something worthwhile for the community."
