Scotch Plains Council Reorganization, 'Movies to Warm You Up' at SP Library

Scotch Plains and Fanwood events for Jan. 6 - 12, 2013:

Scotch Plains council reorganization: Scotch Plains council will meet for their annual reorganization meeting at town hall, followed immediately by their January conference meeting. View the conference agenda here. Tuesday, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

GWACC networking breakfast at Gallery U Boutique: Join the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce at Gallery U Boutique in Westfield to pass business cards and network with current and prospective GWACC members from the surrounding area. Every participant gets the opportunity to spend a few minutes sharing information about their business with the group. Complimentary breakfast treats and coffee provided by Gallery U Boutique. Tuesday, 8 a.m.

"Lets Do Shabbat" at Congregation Beth Israel: For children 4 and under with a parent or caregiver – make Challah, create a craft, enjoy a story. Kosher snack provided. Free and open to the public. Thursday, 9:45 a.m. 

Photographer John Wyatt to speak at Scotch Plains Library: John Wyatt is a photographer whose two books of photographic essays reveal unexpected insights into his subjects – heavily tattooed people and fighters of all kinds. He will speak and share elements of his work and the projects he has undertaken over his 40 years as a photographer. He will sign books, which will be available to purchase. Thursday, 7 p.m.

Watch Renoir at the Scotch Plains Public Library: On Fridays in January, the Scotch Plains Public Library will show a series of films set in warm locales. Bring a snack and enjoy the show. This week they will show Renoir (France, R, 111 min) - Jean Renoir, son of the Impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste, returns home in the summer of 1915 to Southern France after being wounded in World War I and meets a young woman who inspires both himself and his father.  Based on "Le Tableau Amoureux" by Jacques Renoir. Starring Michel Bouquet, Christa Theret and Vincent Rottiers. Friday, 1 p.m.
