Election Day, Kennedy Author Book Signing, Fanwood Council Meeting This Week
What's happening this week in Scotch Plains and Fanwood.
Kennedy author at the Scotch Plains Library: Scott D. Reich will discuss and read excerpts from his new book, The Power of Citizenship: Why John F. Kennedy Matters to a New Generation. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Thursday, 7 p.m. Also: A four-panel exhibition from The Museum of DisABILITY History, showcases the contributions of the Kennedy family to disability rights, beginning Monday.
Fanwood Council: Fanwood council meets Wednesday this week at 7:30 p.m. at borough hall.
Schools closed for teacher convention: SPF schools will be closed Thursday and Friday so teachers can head to the annual NJEA teaching convention in Atlantic City.
Doll sale at Fanwood-Scotch Plains Thrift Shop: The Fanwood-Scotch Plains Service League Thrift Shop will hold its annual Doll & Toy Sale from Tuesday, November 5, through Saturday, November 9. Shop volunteers have collected merchandise for this special sale throughout the year so there will be a wide variety of items including books, puzzles, games, miniature tea sets, trucks & cars etc. Dolls featured in this year’s sale are Monster High, Barbie & Ken, beautifully dressed baby dolls in all sizes and vintage/collector dolls most in their original boxes. Accessories such as clothes, carriages, carriers, and beds/bedding will also be available. All dolls and toys are new or gently used and in great condition.
"The Day the Crayons Quit" at Be Craftful: Join on Saturday for a reading of “The Day The Crayons Quit” – a #1 Times Best Seller, this whimsical tale of Duncan, who just want’s to color and the crayons who quit will be read at Be Craftful with a complimentary craft to follow. Readings will be at 11am and 2pm on Saturday.
