Veterans Day Ceremonies, Fanwood Rescue Squad Gala This Week

What's happening in Scotch Plains and Fanwood this week.


Fanwood Rescue Squad celebrates 65 years with a gala: The whole community is invited to help the Fanwood Rescue Squad celebrate its 65th anniversary with an Italian buffet, live music by North Avenue, Crash Chorus and rapper K-BellzSpecial guests and an EMS demonstration. Suggested donation at the door: $10 adults, $5 children, $25 family maximum. Please RSVP, dinner@fanwoodrescue.com, or 908-322-3777. Saturday, 5 p.m.

Veterans Day ceremony in Scotch Plains: 
Ceremony in observance of Veterans Day at the Veterans Monument at Park Avenue and Front Street in Scotch Plains. Sponsored by American Legion Post 209 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10122. Monday, 11 a.m.

Veterans Day ceremony in Fanwood: Ceremony in observance of Veterans Day - 12:00 Noon at the Fanwood Memorial Library at North Avenue and Tillotson Road in Fanwood.  Sponsored by American Legion Post 209 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10122. Monday, 12 p.m.

College financial planning workshop at the Scotch Plains Library: Join 
Chris Curren from Ecliptic Financial to learn all about college financial 
planning. This program is free and open to the public. Registration is preferred. Monday, 7 p.m.

Newmark School open house: The state-approved, private K-8 school for children living with special needs holds an open house at their brand new facility on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

Ladies BYOB night at Be Craftful: Back by popular demand ... decoupage. Choose your own surface (fabric, picture frame, wood signs, candlestick & more) and make something fantastic (they will have extreme glitter, fabric, sparkle, brushstroke and too many other Mod Podge types to list). BYOB, hang with old and new friends, enjoy sweet treats from Mara's, chill out and have fun. $25 per person. Advance registration required. Wednesday, 7 p.m.

Resolve night at Darby Road: Darby Road will donate a portion of the evening's profit to the Resolve Community Counseling Center, Inc. Resolve is a non-profit community counseling center which provides professional, affordable therapeutic services to individuals and families from Scotch Plains and the surrounding communities. Thursday.

Mind Body Spirit open house: Come celebrate the studio's 3rd year in business with food, drink and live music by harpist Dominique Boyle. There will also be an art show with oil paintings by Shirley Wallitsch, "The Abstract Landscape." Thursday, 7 - 9 p.m.

"Silver Linings Playbook" at the SP Library: Second in a series of "New Movies You May Have Missed," to be shown at the library. Bring a snack and enjoy the show. R, 122 minutes. Friday, 1 p.m.
