ZOUNDS Hearing opens in Scotch Plains: The new business, which "brings the newest most exciting hearing aid technology and audiological services," will celebrate with a grand opening. Monday, 9 a.m. 

Scotch Plains council meets: Scotch Plains council meets for their rescheduled meeting on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. On the agenda is an ordinance to purchase a $46K pavilion for Brookside Park. View the meeting agenda here. Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.

Fanwood council meets: Fanwood council meets for their rescheduled meeting from last week at 7 p.m. at Borough Hall. Agenda not posted online. Tuesday, 7 p.m.

GWACC networking happy hour at Benvenuti: All current and prospective members of the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce are invited to Benvenuti Italian Specialties & Catering to pass business cards and network with current and prospective GWACC members from the surrounding towns. Tuesday, 6 p.m.

"Tales of the Trail" at the Scotch Plains Library: Dr. Raymond Frey recounts his journey through NJ's last great mountain wilderness – the Appalachian Trail. Thursday, 7 p.m.

Love is All You Need at the Scotch Plains Library: On Fridays in January, the library will show a series of films set in warm locales. Bring a snack and enjoy the show. In Love Is All You Need (Denmark, R, 116 min) a hairdresser who has lost her hair to cancer finds out her husband is having an affair, travels to Italy for her daughter's wedding and meets a widower who still blames the world for the loss of his wife. Starring Pierce Brosnan and Trine Dyrholm. Friday, 1 p.m.

Scotch Plains Library accepting book donations: It’s time to get ready for the library's annual Friends of the Library Book Sale. Starting Saturday, January 18, the library will welcome your donations of books, audiobooks on CD, DVDs and CDs. They cannot accept videocassettes, records, magazines or textbooks. Please make sure your donated items are in good condition. Members of Friends of the Library will be available to assist you with your donations on these dates:
  • Saturday, February 1: 11:30am-4pm
  • Saturday, February 8: 9am-1pm
  • Saturday, February 15: 1:30pm-4pm
  • Saturday, February 22: 9am-3pm
  • Saturday, March 1: 9am-3pm
