New Year's Eve Celebrations, Kindergarten Reading Program Kickoff at the Library

What's happening in Scotch Plains and Fanwood this week.

Scotch Plains and Fanwood happenings for Dec. 30 - Jan. 5, 2013:

New Year's at noon: Fanwood's Be Craftful hosts a New Year's countdown the kids will definitely be up for at noon on NYE. Design New Years crafts and enjoy juice and bagels.

New Year's at Shackamaxon: New Year's here includes a five-hour open bar, a cocktail hour featuring a raw bar and Tuscan display, dinner and dessert stations, a champagne toast and a DJ.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten kickoff: 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a multi-year, pre-literacy program designed to foster a love of books and reading in children and increase awareness of the importance of reading to very young children. Any Scotch Plains or Fanwood resident under the age of 5 is eligible to participate. Working at his or her own pace, the child has until he or she begins kindergarten to reach the goal of reading 1000 books.  Complete details about he program can be found on the Scotch Plains library's website.  Friday, 11 a.m.

Oh Brian's celebrates New Year's at new Clark location: Spend New Year's Eve at Oh' Brian's on the Green. The bar-restaurant is offering a pre-fixe dinner for $75 per person, plus tax & gratuity; served from 5:30-10pm. After dinner, stay and ring in the New Year:  Dinner and three hour premium open bar package from 10pm-1am is $110, plus tax & gratuity. This includes Oh’ Brian’s “Late Night Buffet,” hats, noisemakers and live entertainment.
