Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Long Overdue in Scotch Plains, Vet Says

Scotch Plains Zoning Officer Bob LaCosta, along with the help of other local veterans, is raising funds for a Vietnam Veterans' Memorial to be built in front of the Scotch Plains municipal building. LaCosta, a Vietnam veteran himself, says the memorial represents a long overdue thank you to those who served. 

Fanwood Rescue Squad Vice President John Oatis Dies at 69

Oatis is a past president of the Rescue Squad and was active despite being diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma nearly three years ago. A Memorial Service will be held at Fanwood Presbyterian Church July 13 at 11:30 a.m.

As Temps Rise, Ponderosa Park is Cooler Than Ever

The weekend hot weather brought out plenty of kids to the spray-ground at Ponderosa Farm Park on Cooper Road in Scotch Plains. The 23-acre park opened last year and includes walking trails, multipurpose fields for soccer and lacrosse, a variety of playground equipment and swings, and—the biggest draw these days—a spray fountain in the center of the play area.
