'Men's Breakfast,' Diabetes Day in the Park, Sommerfest This Weekend

If you're a man, this event is for you: First Baptist Church at 170 Elm St. in Westfield hosts a Men's Breakfast Saturday at 8:30 a.m. The idea isn't complicated: men, breakfast, conversation. Even better, there is no fee to attend. Call 908-233-2278 for more info.

Watchung Reservation is the site for a special event designed to bring together families touched by diabetes. The Type 1 Diabetes Day in the Park offers free activities and contests for families dealing with the disease starting at 11 a.m. Sunday. Meet at the Evergreen Left Loop Picnic Area near New Providence Road and Coles Avenue in nearby Mountainside. And be sure to bring lunch. For details, call 732-296-7171.

Put on your Lederhosen and polish up your yodel: Sommerfest is coming to Clark. The summertime celebration of all good things German takes place Sunday from noon-6 p.m. at the Deustcher Club, 787 Featherbed Lane. Come out for German and American food and drinks and music by Schwarzenegger Connection. Tickets are $5 for adults and free for those age 12 and under. For info, call 732-574-8600.
