Administration

Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the municipality and delivery of public services to the residents. Duties include implementing the policies of the governing body, supervising and coordinating the work of all township departments, and preparation of the town budget. Building

Responsible for building permits, street opening permits, pools, home improvement contractor's licenses and property surveys. The construction official is Robert Lacosta. The phone number is 908-322-6700 ext. 310.

Clerk

Responsible for preparing agendas and minutes for council meetings, serves as the Chief Elections Officer in all elections, and is the administrative officer responsible for the licensing for taxis and vehicles for hire, liquor licenses and games of chance, among other things. Court

Deals with moving violations, parking violations, and criminal complaints. The judge is Antonio Inacio. The phone number is 908-322-6700 ex 216.

Finance

Oversees the tracking of all expenditures for the municipality to ensure proper budgetary charges and compliance with regulatory items. The current CFO is  Lori Majeski. The phone number is 908-322-6700 x201.

Department of Health

Provides shared services with the Rahway Health Department including rabies clinics, immunizations, pool inspections and health fairs. The health officer is Richard Proctor. The phone number is 908-322-6700 ext. 309, 310, 306.

Department of Parks and Recreation 

Oversees and carries out the day-to-day operation of the local parks, programs and golf course. The director is Ray Poerio. The phone number is 908-322-6700 ext. 1220.

Fire Department

Provides emergency fire protection to Scotch Plains residents. There are two locations, one on the Northside (Station #161), at 430 Senger Place, and one on the Southside (Station #162), at 1910 Raritan Road. The phone number is 908-322-6700.

Police Department

 Provides 24-hour protection to the residents of Scotch Plains. In addition, the department has a detective bureau, records bureau, traffic bureau and domestic violence response team. The current police chief is Brian Mahoney. The phone number is 908-322-7100.

Department of Public Works

Handles bulk waste, recycling, signage, road repairs and other similar work around town. The director is Kevin Ward. The phone number is  (908) 322-6700 ext. 243 or 244.

Tax Collector

Responsible for the collection and deposit of all current and delinquent property taxes and sewer charges and the completion of tax and lien searches. In addition, with centralized receipting, the tax office is responsible for the collection and depositing of all funds collected by the various departments within the municipality.
