What was once 503 Park Restaurant is now Portusa BBQ House. This family-owned restaurant was opened in 2009 by brothersMore Frank and Victor Neno to give Scotch Plains a taste of Portuguese charcoal barbecue. The portions at Portusa are enormous; if you have a smaller appetite, half orders may be the way to go. Portusa also has a kids' corner menu with mostly American fare.

This Spanish-American restaurant on East Second Street serves up cafeteria-style service for lunch or dinner. What's onMore the menu depends on the day and can range from a list of 20 items, including bistec (beef steak) en salsa, bacalao guisado (cod fish), costilla a la bbq (bbq ribs), spaguetti con albondiga (spaghetti with meatballs), and berenjena con res (eggplant with beef), as well as traditional Spanish dishes that are more off-the-beaten-path: rabo guisado (stewed beef oxtail), cuajito (pork stomach), chivo guisado (stewed goat meat), cuajito (pork stomach), and patita de cerdo guisada (stewed pig feet). Soups, sandwiches and meat and seafood entrees are also available.
Willow Grove Swim Club

Since 1959, members of Willow Grove Swim Club have enjoyed relief from the summer heat by dipping in the cool watersMore of "The Grove," or by catching a breeze in the shade provided by the abundance of trees in the six-acre enclave. Nestled in the woods near the Maple Hill section of Scotch Plains, Willow Grove continues to delight both young and old with a combination of recreation, relaxation and socializing.  

The club was formed as a local cooperative by interested residents of the Maple Hill Farm development back in the late 1950s. Today, its membership is comprised of families from Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Westfield, Plainfield and New Providence.

For the cost of a one week shore rental, Willow Grove Swim Club not only offers a beautiful pool, but pizza days, ice cream float days, swim lessons for children of all ages, teen socials, adult socials and cocktail hours, a 4th of July picnic, an end of summer picnic, and a ladies luncheon.

Willow Grove also has a phenomenal swim team. The Barracudas are coached by a talented, experienced staff. Each swim season is concluded with a championship meet and a family BBQ at The Grove.
