Its kindergarten program is an accelerated one that allows children to explore a variety of areas, like writing and reading, mathematics, science, social studies, music, art and cooking.

L'Academy Montessori also offers a summer camp program that includes learning, outdoor water play, sandboxes, basketball, plant watering, art work, painting, coloring, house play and spending time climbing in and around the castle area.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, with an enrollment of about 1,500 students, is the only public high school in theMore township. It offers a comprehensive program that serves the needs, aptitudes and interests of its diverse student body. Extensive required and elective courses are available in English, mathematics, science, social studies, world languages, physical education and health, instructional technologies and business, art, vocal and instrumental music, industrial technology education, and family and consumer sciences. There are 16 Advanced Placement courses. In addition, there are work/study programs and vocational/technical training opportunities. Special facilities include computer labs, reading labs, subject resource centers, college and career resource center, and media center with audio/video/TV production and broadcasting capabilities. The school offers an outstanding program of extracurricular activities in which several student groups and teams regularly receive state and national recognition. The principal is David Heisey.
St. Bartholomew Academy

St. Bartholomew Academy is a private Catholic school associated with St. Bartholomew Church. The school follows theMore recommended curricula of the Archdiocese of Newark in all subject areas and meets the New Jersey state curriculum standards.

Grades pre-K through 5 are self-contained classes. The pre-K and kindergarten are full-day programs that include religion, language, math, computer literacy, music, art, health and safety, and physical education. The pre-kindergarten program features a literacy initiative to develop phonological awareness, oral language, letter and word recognition, enhanced vocabulary and reading readiness. Learning centers are used to foster collaborative learning, listening skills, role-playing and sharing.

In grades K through 5, major academic areas are taught by the homeroom teacher. Students receive instruction from subject area specialists once per week in art, music, library science, gym and computer. Students in Grade 5 also receive instruction in a foreign language.

Grades 6 through 8 are departmentalized. Faculty specialists in mathematics, language arts, science and social studies instruct grades 6 through 8. In addition, students receive weekly instruction from subject area specialists once per week in art, music, library science, gym, computer and foreign language.

Union County Vocational Technical Schools offer a variety of educational services to area residents on its ScotchMore Plains Campus. Programs and schools are highlighted below.

The Academy for Allied Health Services is an initiative that combines the resources of the district, Union County College, Rutgers University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Students enrolled in this grade 9 - 12 full-time program are prepared to become future doctors, nurses, medical technicians and health care managers.

At The Academy for Information Technology, high school students with an interest in computer science and information technology are enrolled in a college-level technical training program in computer science and a full regimen of honors-level academic classes.

The Magnet High School features competitive and specialized programs. Students enroll in a comprehensive course of study in engineering, as well as mathematics, science and technology.

The Academy for Performing Arts combines an intensive study program in theatre arts and dance with a rigorous academic curriculum. The program culminates with a senior year at Kean University, where students take a full freshmen college course load that includes a concentration as a performing arts major.

UC-Tech offers students a four-year full-time program that combines high school academics with access to the career or technical training program of their choice. Program include automotive technology, building trades, communication, public safety, culinary arts and cosmetology.

Shared-Time is a district program that offers students the opportunity to attend a variety of regular education and self-contained special education programs on a half-time basis. Students typically attend high school and then spend either the morning or afternoon on the Scotch Plains campus for vocational-technical specialization training. 

Adult High School is for adults without a high school diploma who seek to obtain one. This program is available at the Scotch Plains campus, as well as in satellite locations in Plainfield and Elizabeth.
