The Scotch Plains-Fanwood board of education has nine members who serve three-year terms. The superintendent of schools, the board secretary, and the board attorney are seated with the members of the board of education and advise them concerning school and procedural matters, but they don't vote on issues before the board of education. Agenda-setting meetings are usually held the second Thursday of each month, with the public portion beginning at 8pm. The regular public meetings are usually held the fourth Thursday of each month, beginning at 8pm. All meetings take place at the administrative offices of the board of education.
