The season will begin on April 13 at 7 p.m. featuring Michaela McClain and Ethan Murphy.
The following information was provided by the Fanwood Performance Series. The Fanwood Arts Council and Mayor Colleen Mahr are pleased to announce the new season of the Fanwood Performing Arts Series. The new season will begin on April 13, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. at the Patricia M. Kuran Cultural Center (The historic carriage house). The spring series will also include performances on May 11, and June 8. The April performance will feature Michaela McClain and Ethan Murphy. Michaela McClain is a singer/songwriter whose folky/soul sound is reminiscent of Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse and James Taylor. Ethan Murphy is influenced by artists such as Aaron Lewis, Bill Withers and Chris Corrnell, he is currently finishing his upcoming album Last Light …

The Junior and Senior Performing Arts Companies from Front & Center for Performing Arts (located in Springfield) present 42nd Street from Friday, January 25th through Sunday, January 27th at the Ridge Performing Arts Center in Basking Ridge (268 South Finley Avenue). Performances by Sharon Goldman and Martin Swinger
Singer-songwriters Sharon Goldman and Martin Swinger will be performing at the Patricia M. Kuran Cultrual Arts Center in Fanwood on Saturday at 7 p.m. Goldman is an acoustic-pop artist who has been writing songs and performing for over a decade and has completed four albums. She is a well-known musician on the East Coast, especially around the New York City area. Goldman performs both solo, with her guitar and alongside other musicians. Saturday evening she will be sharing the stage with Martin Swinger, known for his swing and jazz style. A chance phone call lands Matt Capodicasa in a director role at Scotch Plains Fanwood High School that is reflective of his desire to stay involved in theater.
When the call came, Matt Capodicasa dismissed it. After pounding the proverbial pavement for two years trying to make it as an actor, the last thing he wanted to consider was getting further entrenched in acting or theater. "I was disillusioned with acting and a lot of business crap that goes on," Capodicasa said. "It’s a tough business and I realize that it wasn’t enough for me." On the other end of the line was Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School's Choral Director Laurie Wellman who was tasked with finding a way to put on SPFHS Repertoire Theatre’s 2011 production of Hairspray.
