He stated when he came home at approximately 5:30 p.m. a white male was trying to get into the closed in porch area. When the victim asked the suspect what they were doing he ran off. January 13, 2013: The manager of a Route 22 restaurant reported being a victim of an attempted burglary. He stated sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain entry into the restaurant by prying open the window to the drive thru. Burglary occurred Friday afternoon.
Westfield police after actively investigating a home burglary that took place Friday afternoon on Brown Avenue. Westfield Police Chief David Wayman said police are interviewing suspects and added that he could not provide additional details at this time as the investigation is ongoing. Wayman did note suspects forced their way into the home. Westfield residents reported seeing multiple Westfield and Scotch Plains police cars in the Brightwood Park area before 1 p.m. Friday. Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.

The following information was provided by the Fanwood Police Department. The Fanwood Police Department is investigating a residential burglary on Waldon Road, which occurred on November 27, 2012 between the hours of 8:20 AM and 5:30 PM. The actor(s) made forced entry by breaking a ground floor window. Anyone who may have observed any suspicious person or vehicle should contact the Fanwood Police Department at (908) 322-5000 ext. 119, Detective Sgt. Eugene Chin. Residents should be aware criminal activity usually increases during the holiday season. Two are robbed at local stores, a Mountain Avenue home burglarized.
Burglary On May 9, a Mountain Avenue residence was burglarized. The victim stated that sometime during the day unknown suspect(s) entered her home and removed several hundred dollars in jewelry. Police have yet to determine how the suspect entered the home. Theft On May 7, a theft occurred at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. A student stated that unknown suspect(s) removed his iPod, valued at $200, from his gym bag which was left in an unlocked locker. On May 8, a theft occurred outside an Orchard Drive residence. The horse galloped off from Watchung Stables but was corralled on Route 22 by Scotch Plains officers. Plus, a SP residence was burglarized for pocket change and other news reported by the SPPD.

Horse Escapes Scotch Plains Police reported that on Sunday, April 30, a horse escaped from Watchung Stables. After a brief chase, he was cornered by Scotch Plains Police cars on Route 22 in Scotch Plains near the McDonalds. Authorities were able to bring the horse under control without incident, Scotch Plains Police said. Burglary On April 27, a Farley Avenue residence was burglarized. Numerous CDs and loose change, valued at $25 were taken from the vehicle. A series of vehicle burglaries has local law enforcement urging residents to lock their car doors. The culprits responsible for the widespread theft have not been found.
Fanwood Police Chief Richard Trigo is urging residents to lock their car doors after a series of thefts occurred on the southwest side of town last night. Chief Trigo stated that between the hours of 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11 and 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, four vehicles in the area of Helen Street and Marian Avenue were entered through unlocked doors by unknown suspects. Moveable property was stolen from each of the four vehicles. Scotch Plains was also hit hard with vehicle burglaries this week. According to the SPPD, there were four vehicle burglaries on Belvedere Drive, five on Coles Avenue, and one on William Street. Scotch Plains Police have arrested three individuals, two in connection with a Route 22 store burglary, and one in connection with two Route 22 gas station burglaries.
Scotch Plains Police have arrested a man in connection with several burglaries that occurred on February 26 and March 16, 2012 at a Route 22 Gas station. Several thousand dollars in cash and items was stolen from the scene. Zollie Williams, 54, of Scotch Plains was arrested at 12:20 a.m. on March 23 while walking on Pinehurst Avenue in Scotch Plains. He has been charged with two counts of burglary. He was processed and transported to the Union County jail in lieu of bail that was set by the Scotch Plains Municipal Court at $54,000.00 Williams is scheduled to appear in the Union County Superior Court on April 2 in Elizabeth.
