Oasis Church Moves to Snuffy’s Pantagis in Scotch Plains

On Feb. 10 Oasis Church will begin holding service in the ballrooms of Snuffy's.

The following information was provided by Oasis Church. Oasis-Church-NJ.com, a 2 year old non-denominational Christian church with 2 locations in Central NJ, is moving from it’s current Springfield, NJ location! On Sunday at 10:30am on February 10, 2013 , Oasis will begin celebrating worship services at the Famous Snuffy's Pantagis Renaissance ballrooms. Situated at the corner of RT 22 East and 250 Park Avenue in Scotch Plains, the church will have use of the entire second floor & third floors (with its exquisite ballrooms and suites) for their worship services and Oasis Kids programs. You should look into the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA), If the town, (for what ever reason) were to shut it down, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. They'ed loose in court and be liable to pay for attorney fees , damages, religious discrimination etc...   more ›

Ministry Fair at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church

Following the Oct. 14, mass will be the St. Bartholomew Ministry Fair.

St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church will hold a Ministry Fair on Saturday, October 13th following the 5:00p.m. Mass. On Sunday, October 14th, after all morning Masses. The fair will take place on the church grounds at 2032 Westfield Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ.   All are cordially invited to come out and see everything the parish has to offer.  Those present will enjoy refreshments and prizes and discover how they can best use their time, talent and treasure to answer God’s call.  There is something for everyone!  Bring a friend or stop by and make a new one!

Week in Review: The Top Stories in SPF

Here are the top stories on Scotch Plains-Fanwood Patch last week.

-SPF Parents are furious with Statue Cruises after more than 240 Terrill Middle School fifth graders were unable to board the ferry to Ellis Island on Friday. Patch spoke with Liz Maythenyi, a mother of two students who were on the failed field trip, who stated that while Terrill Middle students were patiently waiting to  board the boats for their 10 a.m. tour, another large school group waiting behind the students was picked out by a Statue Cruises employee who ushered the chosen group in front of the Terrill students. Choir Festival Raises $2000 for SPF Rescue Squads

The Fanwood Presbyterian Church Choir Festival raised more than $2,000 for local rescue squads.

The Fanwood Presybterian Choir Festival has once again proven to be a resounding success, raising $2,155 in donations for the SPF Rescue Sqauds. The event took place on Sunday, May 20, and coincided with National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week.  National EMS Week was first proclaimed by President Gerald Ford in 1974 to acknowledge the work of EMTs, paramedics and first responders for their crucial work in caring for the sick and injured. Scotch Plains Rescue Squad Dan Sullivan expressed his gratitude, stating that he already knows how the donations will be used. “The Scotch Plains Rescue Squad will be using the proceeds to offset the cost of our new Rehabilitation Vehicle,” said Dan Sullivan, Captain. “We are eternally grateful to …

Looking for a place to celebrate Easter or Passover? Here is detailed list of religious institutions who have listed dates and times for religious celebrations. The chart featured lists the dates and times for Holy Week services in the area. United Methodist Church will offer services for Holy Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Good Friday at 12 p.m., and Easter Sunday at 6:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Those who honor the Jewish faith will celebrate Passover from Saturday, April 7 to Saturday April 14.
