It was at least 95 degrees on Thursday evening, but that didn’t stop hundreds of proud parents, dedicated faculty, and close family and friends from packing into the bleachers to watch 369 high school seniors become Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Alumni. The following video captures the most memorable highlights of the 2012 Commencement. The 2012 Senior Class will perform a variety of pieces in a final recital at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 14.
Over the past four years, you have heard their beautiful voices, watched them master their instrumental craft, and perform in memorable musicals. Now, all are invited to say goodbye to the SPFHS Senior class with a special showcase, in celebration of their musical achievements as high school students. The recital will be held in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 14. The 29 seniors participating in the showcase will perform a large variety of musical tunes including those performed by Carrie Underwood, musical theater giant Idina Menzel, Mozart, and Jethro Tull. One student, the aptly named Justin Scholar, has decided to attend NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Read his story — then share your own!
Justin Scholar wore a path from the front door to the mailbox, eagerly rushing to find out if he'd gotten into any of the colleges he'd applied to. Like so many other high-school seniors, the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School student finally breathed a sigh of relief when he found out that his first choice, New York University, deemed him worthy for their Class of 2016.
