On Jan. 27 The Dixie Mix Dixieland band will perform a jazz concert at Willow Grove Church in Scotch Plains.
The following information was provided by Willow Grove Church. The Dixie Mix Dixieland Band will perform a noon time Jazz Concert on Sunday, Jan. 27 at Willow Grove Presbyterian Church in Scotch Plains. Included in the price of admission is a lunch with pulled pork sandwiches, beverages and dessert. Lunch will begin at 11:30 am downstairs in the church fellowship hall with the concert at approximately 12:30 pm in the sanctuary. Admission to both lunch and the concert is $10 for adults and teenagers, $5 for children from 5 to 12 years old, with a one family maximum of $25 and no charge for children under 5 years old. Performances by Sharon Goldman and Martin Swinger
Singer-songwriters Sharon Goldman and Martin Swinger will be performing at the Patricia M. Kuran Cultrual Arts Center in Fanwood on Saturday at 7 p.m. Goldman is an acoustic-pop artist who has been writing songs and performing for over a decade and has completed four albums. She is a well-known musician on the East Coast, especially around the New York City area. Goldman performs both solo, with her guitar and alongside other musicians. Saturday evening she will be sharing the stage with Martin Swinger, known for his swing and jazz style. Swinger's talent and presence are immediate when he gets on stage, according to a press release by the Patrcia M. Kuran Cultral Arts Center. Over 500 gathered on the North Lawn of the historic Fanwood train station to celebrate Memorial Day at home with a majestic musical tribute to our heroes. As the Westfield Community Band played a variety of moving patriotic pieces, local veterans paid tribute to their fallen comrades with heartbreaking letters written to loved ones from the battlefront. “For those who fought and served - our veterans that are here tonight, Memorial Day can’t help but be about honoring those who died, “ Mayor Colleen Mahr said. “But for the rest of us, it’s a conscious effort.
