The following information was provided by the Westfield Police Department. March 1: A 31-year-old Scotch Plains man was arrested for DWI pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at Mountain Avenue and Bradford Avenue. He was transported to headquarters, processed and released to a sober adult.

The following information was provided by the Fanwood Police Department. On February 3, 2013: At 2:20 a.m. a Fanwood police officer made a motor vehicle stop at Old South Avenue East and South Avenue for a motor vehicle violation. While the Officer was speaking with the driver he could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. The Officer asked the driver to exit the vehicle for some field sobriety tests. The driver was unable to complete the tests and was placed under arrest. The driver was charged with D.W.I. and released to a responsible person. The defendant is Denise Quinto, 42, from Somerset.

Police arrested four for driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia
Adekaya Brown, 30, of Union, was arrested on June 10, for possession of marijuana. Officer Pearson stopped Brown for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22. While speaking with Brown, Officer Pearson observed the drugs within the vehicle. Brown was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released. Luke Hammond, 23, of Westfield, was arrested on June 9 for driving while intoxicated. Officer Richie stopped Hammond for a motor vehicle violation on Front Street. While speaking with Hammond, Officer Riche smelled a strong odor of alcohol. Police state that Fischetti struck a car on Bartle Avenue before crashing into a telephone pole on Stout Avenue.
Scotch Plains Police are reporting that a North Plainfield man has been charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a car on Bartle Avenue, sped off, and ultimately crashed into a telephone pole on Stout Avenue. No bystanders were injured. Scotch Plains Police Captain Brian Donnelly stated that John Fischetti, 44, of North Plainfield was traveling with Samantha Petrullo, 34, also of North Plainfield, when he crashed the vehicle. Stolen Vehicle A South Avenue business reported that sometime between May 27 and May 28, a rental car was not returned. The vehicle was entered as a stolen vehicle. The vehicle is described as a 2004 Ford Taurus, color Blue with N.J. license plate ZFK-66A. Theft A Tillotson Road resident reported that sometime between May 27 and May 28, landscaping lights valued at ten dollars were stolen from the front of her yard. Arrests Kyle Harvin, 35, of Westfield, was arrested at 9:39 p.m. on May 27, for driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit a breath sample. Two are robbed at local stores, a Mountain Avenue home burglarized.
Burglary On May 9, a Mountain Avenue residence was burglarized. The victim stated that sometime during the day unknown suspect(s) entered her home and removed several hundred dollars in jewelry. Police have yet to determine how the suspect entered the home. Theft On May 7, a theft occurred at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. A student stated that unknown suspect(s) removed his iPod, valued at $200, from his gym bag which was left in an unlocked locker. On May 8, a theft occurred outside an Orchard Drive residence. The resident stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) went onto his property and removed a row boat, valued at $200 from the side of his property. Arrests Driving While Intoxicated Juan Tequitalapa, 29, of Elizabeth, was arrested at 10:52 p.m. on May 1, for driving while intoxicated. The Officer stopped Tequitalapa for a motor vehicle violation at South Martine and Herbert Avenue. While speaking with the driver, the Officer detected a strong odor of an alcohol beverage coming from inside of the vehicle. The Officer asked the driver to step out of the vehicle to perform field sobriety tests which he was unable to complete. Tequitalapa was arrested, charged, processed and released to a responsible person pending his court hearing. Fanwood police nab a car thief transporting drug paraphernalia. Other arrests include a DWI and active warrants.
Manuel Vera, 48, of Edison was arrested at 12:51 a.m. on March 10, at South Avenue and Terrill Road for driving while intoxicated. After stopping Vera for a motor vehicle violation, the Officer detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside of the vehicle. Vera was asked to step out of the vehicle to perform several sobriety tests, which he was unable to perform. He was arrested, processed and turned over to a responsible party. Deborah Dozier, 49, year of Elizabeth, was arrested at 10:45 a.m. on March 10, at South and Hetfleid Avenue.
