Michael Lewis of Fanwood is hoping the Board of Ed will not "rush judgement" on updating the Math Curriculum with a new version of "Everyday Math."
(Letter to the Editor) To the Scotch Plains - Fanwood Board of Education: I am writing today in an attempt to forestall a "rush to judgment" on the merits of updating a Math Curriculum based on "Everyday Math". Board members discussed the Curriculum Committees proposal to renew Everyday Math as the Jan. 17 meeting. Also discussed was replacing exterior doors for security.
During a meeting of the Curriculum Committee, math supervisor John Veninger and math teacher Charlene Hall discussed the program Everyday Math and whether the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Board of Education should replace or renew it. After …

I know this was done for reading but for the life of me I cannot recall if it was done in Math. Without implying any criticism whatsoever, it should be noted (and it did come up both in the Board discussion AND in some of the material I read online) that elementary school teachers…   more ›
