Fanwood Blotter: Jewelry Worth 13K Stolen From First Street Home

The following information was provided by the Fanwood Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

The following information was provided by the Fanwood Police Department. A resident in the 40 block of First Street reported that jewelry valued at $13,100 was stolen from their home. The theft happened between Jan. 25 and Jan. 30. As of now, it is unknown how the jewelry was taken.

Fanwood Blotter: Car Stolen From South Avenue and Several Thefts from Unlocked Cars

The following information was provided by the Fanwood Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

  The following information was provided by the Fanwood Police Department. Between December 29, 2012 at 9:30 p.m. and December 30 at 1:20 a.m., the victim reported his vehicle was stolen from the 190 block of South Ave. The stolen vehicle is described as a 1991 Honda Accord, black, 4 door valued at $ 6,000.00. December 23, 2012: At 2:10 p.m. the victim reported she was parked in the 250 block of South Avenue when an unknown person removed her purse from the open window of her vehicle. The purse contained numerous credit cards and personal information.  December 28, 2012: Between 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. a unlocked vehicle parked in the 170 block of Farley Avenue was entered by an unknown person who removed money and a GPS unit. SP Resident Seriously Injured in Fanwood MVA

A 23-year-old female was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson hospital after having been involved in motor vehicle accident at Portland and Martine Avenue.

A 23-year-old Scotch Plains resident was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident that occurred at 5:10 p.m. on Friday in Fanwood. Fanwood Police Chief Richard Trigo stated that the 23-year-old was operating a 2011 Nissan sedan when her vehicle collided in the intersection with a 1995 Ford minivan. The minivan was operated by a 74-year-old Mountainside resident. The 74-year-old did not sustain any injuries. Police are still investigating the accident to determine who was at fault. The 23-year-old sustained injuries to most of the left side of her body and complained of pain in her neck, back, left leg, and left shoulder. Fanwood Man Charged With Shooting Neighbor's Fence

Fanwood resident John Stewart faces numerous weapons charges allegedly firing an assault weapon towards a neighbor's fence from his Coriell home.

Fanwood resident John M. Stewart, 41, has been charged with numerous weapons charges and endangering the public after he allegedly fired six rounds at a neighbor’s fence from his Coriell Avenue home. Fanwood Police Chief Richard Trigo stated that at 8:35 p.m. on Wednesday night, Fanwood Police responded to numerous 911 calls reporting shots fired. He added that nobody was injured. “Upon arriving at the scene, Fanwood Police witnessed the defendant exiting his residence. After a brief scuffle, he was placed under arrest," Trigo said. "A short time later, backup officers from the Scotch Plains Police Department arrived to assist Fanwood Police in creating a secure perimeter around the house.
