The gymnastics team held their final home meet on Feb. 23 and won in both divisions. Senior Zoe-Nicole Stein was honored at the end of the meet.

The following information was provided by the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA. Just two weeks since their last meet, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA "A" and "B" Division Gymnastic Teams hosted a meet on Saturday, February 23rd against teams from South Mountain and Somerset Valley YMCAs. The home team won the meet in both Divisions. This meet marked the final home meet for the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA teams only graduating high school senior this year: Zoe-Nicole Stein. The team honored Stein at the end of the meet and presented a bouquet of flowers. Stein is a long-time member of the team, having begun in the Y Gymnastic program in preschool! In the "A" Division, both Stein and Kacie Bumiller competed in the Level 9 competition. …

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains gymnasts received first place in several events on Feb. 9.

The following information was provided by the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA. This past weekend was a busy one for the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA (FSPY) Gymnastic Teams. The “C” teams traveled through snowplowed roads to Somerset Valley YMCA on Saturday, February 9th and the “A” and “B” teams competed at Madison Area YMCA on Sunday, February 10th. In the “A” Division, two Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA gymnasts competed in the Level 9 competition. Senior Zoe-Nicole Stein and Kacie Bumiller each had great meets. Awards were not presented that the Level 9 division but both gymnasts earned All Around scores clinching their qualification to compete at the 2013 National Championship meet in the Championship Division. The following information was provided by the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA. The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA “C” Gymnastic Teams competed in their first meet of the season on Saturday, January 26th. Teams representing the South Mountain and Madison YMCAs were in attendance. Eight of the 14 FSPY gymnasts were competing in their very first gymnastics competition! Competing in the 10 & under age group, Ava McKenzie captured 1st place All Around. McKenzie’s honors also included 1st place on Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise, 2nd place on Vault and 3rd on Balance Beam. The months of practice have finally led to the start of the competitive season for the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA (FSPY) Gymnastics Teams. Competing in their first meet of the season on Saturday, January 5, 2013, the “A” and “B” Division teams hosted teams from South Mountainand Somerset Valley YMCAs. The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA “A” Team took first place over Somerset Valley 99 to 94.15 respectively. The B Teams “flip-flopped” with Somerset Valleytaking the win over FSPY 97.2 to 95.9. The Westfield Blue Devils topped Cranford by a very slight margin at Friday's meet.
The slogan on the back of the Cranford gymnastics T-shirts reads: “Don’t Be Afraid To Dream Too Big.” After beating Westfield in the regular season and also capturing the Cougar Classic at Cranford two weeks ago, Cranford was dreaming of winning the Union County meet held Friday night at Westfield. Considered a slight favorite over a Westfield program that had won five straight county titles, the evening’s competition couldn’t have been more evenly matched between the two county powers. In the end, however, it was defending champion and host Westfield coming out on top by the slightest of margins. The Blue Devils had a final point total of 109.150 and the Cougars 109.050.
