Imagine Seeks Loving Listeners

Volunteers Needed for April 2013 Training

Imagine A Center for Coping With Loss is seeking adult volunteers for its next Facilitator Training April 5-8, 2013.  Volunteers come from all walks of life and need no special background other than a willingness to listen, a heart inclined to serve, and the ability to be with children and adults in pain without trying to fix, solve or give advice. Imagine Hosts Night of Remembrance on November 15th

Event coincides with National Children's Grief Awareness Day

Imagine a Center for Coping With Loss will host its first "i Remember" evening as a way to remind grieving children, families and other adults that they are not alone in their grief. Through ritual, art, and the sharing of music, memories and readings, people will experience the healing and therapeutic power and support provided by a caring community of individuals, explained Imagine executive director Mary Robinson. Opened in May, Imagine offers peer support groups, which are free and run year-round, for children age 3 and up, and for adults of all ages. The center serves people coping with loss due to death and, in 2013, will begin support programs for children, families and individuals coping with terminal and chronic illness.   The "i …

Mary Robinson Imagines a Lifetime of Healing After Loss

The executive director of Imagine, a Center for Coping With Loss, believes all who grieve are on a journey but they shouldn't have to walk alone.

Mary Robinson imagines a world in which grief, loss and trauma are transformed into resiliency, empathy and compassion. She envisions children who have suffered significant sadness growing up emotionally healthy and leading meaningful and productive lives. Robinson, no stranger to grief, is living proof that out of sorrow can come hope and healing. The executive director of Imagine, A Center for Coping With Loss, slated to open in Westfield on Monday, May 7, lost her father at 14. During open houses for the non-profit organization, Robinson describes the center's mission and, with soul-baring honesty, recounts how losing their dad left an indelible mark on both her and her brother. Imagine, A Center for Coping With Loss Shares Wish List

The center for coping with loss will open on May 7 and will collect donations Tuesday, April 14.

If you're doing some spring cleaning or feel like making a donation to a local cause, the following is the wish list of items Imagine, A Center for Coping for Loss could use.   The center, which will serve all of Union County, offers year-round grief support for children, teens, and their families coping with loss due to the death of a parent or sibling and will open Monday, May 7.
