The following information was provided by the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA. With playoffs looming and standing tight, it was a moving weekend in the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men’s League. Game one ended with Double Dribble 74 and Fast Break 57. In the upset special, balanced scoring by Double Dribble was the difference as Marlon Brown, 26, Chris Mattina, 24 (5 treys) and Eric Halpin, 19, were too much for the Breakers. Fast Break got 17 and 13 from Jason Holley and Steve Lee but drop their second game of the season, now 7 and 2. Double Dribble improves to 4 and 5. Court Masters, Hooptown and Fast Break win in Week 8.
The following information was provided by Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA. Continuing with the electrifying play that has been exhibited, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men’s Basketball League hit week 8 of this 2013 season. As the 6 teams jockey for playoff positions, 4 are tied for third place. In game one, Court Masters, 53 and Above the Rim, 29. Both teams came into the game running with thin benches, missing players. Court Masters jumped out early, taking a 26-16 halftime lead. As the second half continued, Court Masters took advantage of Above the Rim’s weak zone defense, pouring in more debilitating 3-pointers, finishing with 7 buckets from behind the arc. The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men’s Basketball League’s season continues to get closer to the playoffs with Fast Break clearly leading the pack with only one loss with the majority of the teams all hovering around .500. This week saw a tight game between Courtmasters and Double Dribble with Courtmaster’s recording their second win. Got Skillz, Above the Rim and Double Dribble all dropped below 500 with uncharacteristic losses today. It’s starting to get interesting! Game one ended with Hoop town 53 and Above the Rim 37. The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men’s Basketball League hit the mid-season mark Sunday and the standings resemble the classic bell curve – one team on top, one on the bottom and the majority clustered in the middle. Game one ended with Double Dribble,50 and Got Skillz, 33. Double Dribble got 15 points apiece from Marlon Brown (10 assists) and Eric Halpin (8 rebounds) and 12 more from Chris Mattina. Here's a look at the three games played in one day during the Men's Basketball 2013 season.
It is cold outside, but the action in the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men's Basketball League continues to heat up. As always, an entertaining three games were played in this 2013 season. Game one ended with Court Masters, 70 and Double Dribble, 72 with little rebounding and defense, lots of offensive action was on display in the first game. Having much thrust with Jack Ryan's 23 first half points, Court Masters jumped out to an early lead 39-32. In the second half, Marlon Brown continued his consistent scoring with help from Chris Mattina's four 3-pointers, as Double Dribble comes from behind to win 72-70. The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men’s Basketball League was back in action this past Sunday with teams looking to make their move in the 2013 standings. Game one ended with Fast Break 56 and Got Skillz 31. Playing without their two leading scorers, Got Skillz faced a formidable opponent, Fast Break. Stocked with key weapons, Steve Lee led all scorers with 19 points and a healthy 17 buckets from Tim Gray, Fast Break ran away with it. Got Skillz' Kevin Gannon's valiant 12 point and 16 rebound performance goes for naught as Fast Break improves to a league best 4-0. Game two closed with Double Dribble 60 and HoopTown 61. The following information was provided by the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA. The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men’s Basketball League’s season got back to business after the Holiday break with three great match ups. Everyone was well rested and excited to get back to playing. After the third week Fast Break remains the only undefeated team as The Courtmasters handed Got Skillz their first defeat. In game one, Courtmasters 47 and Got Skillz 44. Court Masters started strong and played hard under the boards with 30 rebounds adding points with second efforts as they outscored their opponent in the first half 32 to 23. The following information is provided by the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA. The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men's Basketball League’s season continued with week two match-ups, giving teams the chance to solidify their starting rosters as players become more familiar with each other. In the first game, Fast Break, 60 and HoopTown, 42. Fast Break started slow, but finished the first half with a lead that would be too big for HoopTown to recover. HoopTown's Brian Parker led all scoring with 28 points. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to offset the balanced shooting attack of Fast Break who had multiple players finish with double-digit points including Jason Holley with 22 and Tim Gray with 14. The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men’s Basketball League’s season got underway Sunday with a triple header of hoops action. Week one consisted of three games: In game one, Fast Break 53 and Court Masters 23. Court Masters started strong but were out-rebounded by Fast Break and could never establish offensive flow. Fast Break controlled the boards with 40 rebounds. Jason Holley led Fast Break with 15 points and his team showed balance with three players, Jerry Baglien, Tim Gray and Steve Lee all scoring in double digits. The Following information was provided by the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men's Basketball League. The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA (FSPY) Mens 30 + Basketball League recently held its fourth annual draft setting teams for the upcoming fourth season of League play starting December 2. Last year, the League crowned Full Court as league champion following an exciting worst-to-almost-first run by the Dream Team capping a 12-game regular season Most of the League’s top players returned and new talent joined suggesting this could be the most competitive season yet. The League will again play a 12-game regular season followed by playoffs. Games are slated for the FSPY’s Martine Avenue facility Sunday mornings. Games are 40-minutes running …
